Daniela Ubaldo from @WaltripRam is ✈️ flying to #WashingtonDC this June‼️ Principal Dale Mitchell, #Waltrip staff, and our Secondary ML Prgms Specialist, Nereyda Briones, delivered the news✨ Lets see those 👏👍 up for Daniela !
Our #newcomer students at Revere Middle School attended the first 'Girl Talk Support Group' meeting. In the session, students are taught the social, emotional, and #leadership skill sets they need to become our next generation of #leaders and world changers. Hosted by: Tralynza Conley (social worker), Jenny Martinez (Truancy officer), Neysa Gavion (At-risk administrator), Neneh Koroma (ML Newcomer Outreach Worker)
Wow! Congratulations!! Mingfeng Gu from Bellaire HS will also go to #WashingtonDC this summer as part of the Close-Up program. During a week, #HISD students will get a first-hand educational experience that highlights democracy in the United States. Asst. Principal Al Lloyd, handing the award letter.

The best way to predict the future is to create it! That's what Arturo Reyes did when he decided to participate on the @CloseUp_DC program. AND guess what?! He was selected to be one of the 20 participants! Principal Roy de la Garza, from @MilbyHighSch, gives Arturo the news :)
Hooray! Yury Valdez from Madison High School will start packing her luggage for a full week of learning in #Washington DC! This #summer she'll head out with other 19 #ELL students to gain knowledge in the United States and the American representational form of #government. Congrats! In the pic Asst. The Secondary division delivered official award letters to #English Language Learners who were chosen to attend the Close-Up Program to #Austin and #Washington D.C. this #summer. ELL students traveling to Austin will participate in #leadership activities, explore and understand Texas history, the structure of power in the state #government, and the role of #citizens in society. The Close-Up program to Washington D.C. will provide students an educational experience that highlights #democracy in the United States and the American representational form of government. Participants will also see the monuments memorials and museums that bring U.S. #history to life. #HoustonISD #Houston #Texas #closeup #Education #ELLs #ESL #bilingualism #bilingual
