Welch Middle School, Westbury High School, and the Multilingual Department collaborated to inform 51 students about the Personal Graduation Plan (PGP) and the importance of attendance.
The 8th Grade Bridging Session was delivered in Spanish for English Learners by College Readiness Manager Josie Treviño.
“The students were guided through a sample of the document to see the classes required for graduation and how to document credits in their home language,” said Rosa Gonzalez-Decou, Outreach Worker for the Multilingual Department. “These activities will teach them and help enourmously to take advantage of opportunities that will assist them in reaching future goals,” she emphasized.
Mr. Rose, At Risk Program Administrator at Westbury HS, spoke about the importance of attendance. “Most of the students are not aware that absences can easily add up to academic failure”, he stressed.
All 51 students received a booklet in Spanish so that they can document and keep track of their future courses in high school.
