Yesterday, the district hosted its fourth Parent University workshop from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at five locations: Revere Middle School, and Chavez, Kashmere, Worthing and Challenge Early College high schools. Multilingual Programs was there supporting this district-wide initiative.
Parent University workshops always begin with a dinner and resource fair that gathers every month multiple HISD departments and offices. These resources and program information are given to parents and community to provide safe and healthy environments at home and school for all students.
Multilingual department’s managers, program specialists and outreach workers presented attendees with information about the district’s ESL, Bilingual and Dual Language programs, booklets for high school students to keep track of their graduation requirements. All with the purpose of empowering them to become active partners in the successful education of their children.
The next event will be on March 28 at Furr HS, Northside HS, Madison HS, and Westside HS. Registration is available at HoustonISD.org/ParentUniversity.
